Senior Accountant / Team Leader

Better business. Better balance.

An exciting opportunity has opened up within our team for an experienced Senior Accountant ready to take the next step in their career.

Ingham Mora is the largest privately-owned accountancy firm in the Western Bay of Plenty, well known and well regarded across the region. We have a progressive culture with a genuine focus on our people, and we're committed to supporting career development and fresh thinking.

We're based in the Bay because we love the lifestyle here, and we want our people to enjoy it too. That's why flexibility and connection matter so much to us: true flexi-time, work-from-home options, and early finish Fridays are all part of how we work.

The role

You'll work alongside an established Principal, managing a diverse client base across a range of industries, and leading and mentoring a small team within the firm. A Team Leader, you will be part of the firm’s senior leadership where your views and opinions will be valued.

Beyond preparing accurate tax and accounting work, you’ll have a demonstrated ability to work one-on-one with clients and the skills and experience to provide broader business advisory services. You'll get to know your clients' businesses in depth: understanding what they need, spotting opportunities, and helping them work toward their goals.

What you'll bring

  • At least 5 years' experience in a New Zealand or Australian Chartered Accountants practice, with current, solid knowledge of NZ tax and accounting
  • Chartered Accountant status is a plus, though not essential
  • You’ll be a self-starter who is career focussed and looking to further their own professional networks within the Tauranga business community.
  • Experience leading a team, or a natural aptitude for it
  • Confidence taking ownership of client queries and proactively seeking advice when needed
  • Strong critical thinking, with sound judgement on both verbal and numerical problems
  • The ability to process information quickly and make clear, considered recommendations
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable working with a wide range of people while staying professional and respectful
  • Solid systems skills, ideally with Xero, plus an interest in add-on applications
  • A genuine willingness to keep learning and growing
  • A keen interest in business development, always looking for ways to add value for clients and grow the practice

This is a great opportunity to build your career with a forward-thinking CA practice in one of the country's most beautiful regions.
